After more than a decade, Microsoft has returned in force to the flight simulation scene by announcing a new addition to the Flight Simulator franchise.
Announced at the E3 gaming conference in LA, the new flight simulator will be available for Xbox and PC and is “powered by Microsoft’s Azure cloud artificial intelligence” and satellite imagery. The following preview trailer was recorded in real-time 4K.
While Microsoft hasn’t released details on the new simulator, according to the video, it is likely to include highly detailed global scenery (with wildlife) and aircraft ranging from light general aviation types to airliners. It is scheduled for release in 2020.
The official press release read: “Microsoft Flight Simulator is the next generation of one of the popular simulation franchise. From light aircraft to wide-body jets, fly highly detailed and stunning aircraft in an incredibly realistic world. Create your flight plan and fly anywhere on the planet. Enjoy flying day or night and face realistic, challenging weather conditions.”
