The real Guernsey Airport (EGJB)
EGJB was opened in 1939 with four grass runways. It was first used by the Luftwaffe during the invasion of the Channel Islands. By 1948 BEA and Jersey Airlines were operating regular trips to Southampton. A new 4800ft tarmac runway was constructed and traffic increased with regular services to London and Southampton using Viscount and Herald aircraft. Guernsey was a main base for Aurigny and for more than 30 years Islanders and Trislanders were used on the inter-island link. During 2012 the runway extended to enable larger aircraft like the Embraer 190, Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 to the use the airport. Today the main operators are Aurigny and Flybe.
