Iris Dynamics has announced the development of a new consumer priced force feedback simulator yoke.
Movement of the yoke is created by manipulating magnetic fields that are induced by passing current through a series of copper coils and controlled by a high resolution Arduino based microcontroller. Dynamic and static forces from the magnetic fields allow for precise and incremental changes in power and movement of the yoke.
Iris Dynamics aims to develop an affordable force feedback yoke that realistically simulates correct control column movement and resistance throughout all stages of flight, and trim condition. In addition, the unit is built with both optical and Hall Effect sensors to track shaft position rather than conventional mechanical potentiometers found in traditional designs.
